Almost sent them back due to fit - glad I didn't! Jan 12, 2008 I was excited to get these - I desperately needed some weatherproof boots and wanted them to be cute. These fit both bills, as far as I could tell. When I got them out of the box, they looked well-made and stylish - a bit shinier than I even expected, but still attractive. However, putting them on proved to be a chore. They have no opening (zipper, buckles, etc.) and they're quite tall. I have a high arch to my foot and wider than average calves, so I became very worried during my first attempt to put them on, when I could not easily get my foot in place. However, I liked them and was determined. I soon realized that the shearling sole was removable and I also tried on some thin socks as I had previously been trying to put them on barefoot, as I do with my Uggs. With these two modification in place, the boot went on relatively easily, although they still took longer than the average pair of boots. Now I can wear them even with the liner, as they've stretched out a bit. However, I still need to wear socks with these, as they just won't go on barefoot.
Anyway, I would recommend these. I've already gotten complliments on them and have only worn them twice. They're very cute with jeans and even with skirts, and they're definitely waterproof, as I learned when I accidentally stepped in a foot-deep puddle!
They lose one star for two reasons:
1. I don't think the knit top is going to hold up that well in the long term as it's already looking a bit fuzzy. That's pretty lame for such expensive boots.
2. The internal "heel shaper" is cheaply made, and the first time I tried them on, I scrunched them down in both boots. It feels like thick cardboard inside them and now I need to wriggle to adjust them each time I wear the boots. It's a minor annoyance, but, again, these are expensive and there should have been a bit more attention to detail.
Anyway, I still recommend them as one of the cuter pairs of warm weatherproof boots out there. Get a pair!
